Carolina Rondeau
Family Mediator
Colombian Lawyer

FMC Member

Carolina was born and raised in Colombia. Her passion for helping people has taken her on various career paths. She studied law and is a registered Colombian lawyer. As a lawyer she could continue working for the community while also freeing up more time to raise her daughter. After a few years of practice in Colombian Family Law, Carolina chose to move to Canada in 2017. Since relocating to Canada, she has worked as an assistant in family law with great lawyers who have given her the opportunity to learn about the Canadian legal system and specifically family law in British Columbia. Most recently she has expanded her horizons and taken the Family Mediation Certification at the Justice Institute of British Columbia. In mediation she can continue to help people navigate the aspects of divorce and separation and most importantly help with family reorganization in a manner more efficient and affordable than in a traditional court setting.

Why Mediation

Separation and divorce come with significant changes in life for both parents and children, but the process can be easier with mediation. There is often a better path to meet the needs of the parents and children and, in mediation families can find amicable and fair solutions. The mediator is a neutral third-party professional, that helps guide families to identify the challenges with divorce or separation and facilitates a safe space for effective communication so all parties can reach a balanced and fair solution.

The court process can have extensive durations and legal fees can become significant. Each court day may cost thousands of dollars as you need legal representation and there are often several court days during a family court process and trial, at the end which, a judge will take the final decision. Mediation is a short process and with the right guidance and willingness to do it correctly, is affordable and fast. Mediation facilitates solutions for you and your family without the constraints of the rigid courtroom process and outside influence.

Why Carolina

Her experience as a Colombian lawyer, the training and knowledge gained working as a legal assistant in family law, and the training received at Justice Institute of British Columbia to become a Family Mediator, make her a good asset to achieve results in mediation. She can help the parties identify their interests and needs, while always considering the well being of all involved, particularly the children. Carolina knows how difficult, devastating, and costly the court process can be, that is why she decided to follow the path of mediation as a great alternative to an expensive and lengthy trial.
